The UK’s first Traditional Multi-
A single games league needs multiple venues, taking up permanent space at each venue. However, a multi games league, with portable games, can be sited temporarily at one or a handful of bases. Not just a skittles league, but a bowls, skittles, quoits, ring board, toads, shuffleboard, bagatelle etc league. Why become tied to just one game when there are so many traditional variations to enjoy?
The intent is to establish both indoor and outdoor multi-
The games used will be as near league standard and format as is practical to use, or that are available.

Proposals
The inaugural season would be a chance for participants to shape the league structure
and iron out logistics. Weekly fixtures lasting for 3 hours. Game slot time -
Midweek early evening AND / OR Weekend afternoon.
Venues with suitable space for one or more games to run concurrently are a requirement. A clutch of venues within fairly close proximity of each other would be favourable, and preferably centrally based in zone 1. An ideal venue would be one with sufficient outdoor space where, when bad weather prevents further play outdoors, play in an alternative format can then take place indoors.
Teams of 6 -
Everything stated for both indoor and outdoor leagues are proposals and open to discussion. Please email Manor regarding your interest or with any suggestions.
Other Games
Also if you have any thoughts concerning regular competition that can be applied to any of the other games formats e.g. tabletop football league, strategy games league, then please email.
Or would you just like to meet on a regular basis, perhaps as a classic board games club.
About the Site
As the site is new, there may be the odd glitch. The choice of playing formats is already extensive but where improvements can be made they will be. Photographs of games being played in situ will also be added.
Information in boxes set against a white background is for the group to take action.
Red text is used where an item may be currently unavailable or is soon to be added.
Your Action -
Pub Games
As pubs have had to fight for economic survival, short term fixes have been made. Pub games have become a major casualty of these changes. Skittle alleys have been ripped out and replaced with dining areas. Dart boards have been got rid of to use the throwing space. Even within the support of a league structure, when pubs remove a facility, teams drop out and the continued existence of the games themselves are threatened.
If you live in the Greater Manchester area you would find it difficult to name more than a handful of pub games you have actually played. Darts, crib, dominoes, pool, bar football would probably be the most widely named. Beyond those, try naming another 5 pub games you may have heard of – skittle alley, table skittles, shove ha’penny, bar billiards – starting to struggle? Let’s include a snooker table as well, but how many pubs have a snooker table nowadays?
As pub games physically disappear, so does the memory of many excellent games, resulting in the loss of probably the pub’s most vital social activity. Think of a snooker table and you think of the game of snooker, yet there are many more games to be enjoyed using a snooker table that have been long forgotten.
Manor Games has amassed a collection of over 70 pub games from both Britain and abroad. All these games are portable, so can be played without the venue having to permanently dedicate its space to those games. The games can be taken to any venue that wishes to participate – whether a pub, village hall, community centre, social club, private residence, etc.
