To ensure a level playing surface, custom boards have been made for the fabric pitches.

 

Format - All games below are 2 player singles matchplay

Requirements - All games require a suitably sized table top

Duration - Games are timed to fit into game slot time, or as otherwise indicated.

15 minute slots RR singles – 15 mins one way .

20 minute slots singles – 16 mins one way.

20 minute slots RR singles - 20 mins one way.

Subbuteo Football 1

Dimensions - 54" long by 36" wide on a custom made board.

 

The definitive table-top football game.

Flick the players with the index finger to move them and to kick the ball.

Custom corner kickers add to the variety. Goalkeepers are held on a rod.

Waddington' s Table Soccer 1 and 2

Dimensions - 30" long by 20" wide

Played on a cardboard fold-up pitch.  Nearest to the ball has possession.

Ball is moved by a tiddley wink action using player' s base.  Players are moved by hand.

Goalkeepers are moved into position when a player declares a shot at goal.

Teams in red shorts and blue shorts.

Super Striker

Dimensions - 33" long by 24" wide on a custom-made board.

To minimise warping of the playing area, the original pitch border has been replaced and the pitch is now supported by a hardboard base.

The man nearest the ball has possession. The ball is kicked by lightly tapping the man on his head.

Players are moved from zone to zone by hand.

A roller underneath each goalkeeper' s control rod allows them to dive each way.

Tipp Kick

(Germany) (2-a-side)

Dimensions - 38" long by 24" wide on supporting hardboard

A card pitch with borders.

The ball is kicked by pressing down the button on top of each player's head.  Possession is decided by which colour shows on top of the ball when it stops.

Players are moved by hand.  Goalkeepers have a diving action controlled by 2 buttons.

Reds v Yellows.

Grand Slam

(formerly TAF 4-2-4) (11-a-side)

Dimensions - 40" long by 30" wide on a custom made board.

Played on a synthetic surface pitch.

Players are zonally positioned (but not static) to maintain the 4-2-4 formation.

Players are moved by hand.  Ball is kicked either by flat front or lifted using sloped rear.

Goalkeepers are on control rod.

Premier League

– Man City v Man Utd (TAF 4-2-4, Grand Slam relative)

Dimensions - 40" long by 30" wide on a custom made board.

This updated relative of Grand Slam provides all the same playing techniques but some amended rules.  As far as practical the rules for both games have been combined to make both games possible to play with one set of rules (generally based on this later version).

Pro Action Football

pitch player magnetically traps ball keeper

Dimensions - 40" long by 30" wide on a custom made board.

Played on a synthetic surface pitch with borders.

Players trap the ball by magnetic attraction and kick the ball by being lightly tapped on the head.

Players are propelled by a ball bearing in their base and so moved by flicking with the index finger.

Goalkeepers are on a rod and save the ball magnetically.

Teams in red shirts and black shorts, blue shirts and black shorts.

Dimensions - 49" long by 36" wide on a custom made board.

Played on a synthetic surface pitch.

Nearest to the ball has possession.

Players are moved by hand following the marked out squares. Ball is kicked using player' s base.

Goalkeepers are on a rod.

Teams in Man Utd and Everton colours.

Chad Valley Big League Football

(11-a-side)

Dimensions - 59" long by 42" wide on a custom made board.

Rules are based as close to Waddington's Table Soccer (above) as practical. Players are moved by hand.

Nearest man has possession.  Ball is kicked by pulling back player's leg and releasing. Spring action kicks the ball.

Goalkeepers are moved into position when a shot is declared.

Teams in Liverpool and Wolves colours.

Shove Ha' penny Football

(2-a-side)

Dimensions - 4 ft long by 2 ft wide on an appropriately slippy, custom-made, hardboard pitch.

Perhaps the first and simplest football game we ever played.

Players are moved by striking with the end of the ruler.  Players take turns to attempt to kick the ball.

 

Teams are washers painted in either red, blue, white or yellow.

Zing

(5-a-side)

Dimensions - 4 ft long by 2 ft wide on an appropriately slippy, custom-made, plywood pitch.

Similar to shove ha'penny football but with the players being flicked with the finger (as in carrom). The ball must always be played forward, so positioning of players is important.
